From July 1st to October 25th, 2025, the iconic walls of the historic Chèvre d'Or, nestled in the hills of Èze (06), will transform into an extraordinary setting to host "Transition," the new exhibition by internationally renowned sculptor David David. This series of five exclusive sculptures invites the public on a true emotional journey, where contemporary art harmoniously interacts with the unique natural and architectural surroundings of this exceptional Relais & Châteaux.
This exhibition marks a new phase in the artist's work, characterized by a more refined and raw aesthetic. Volumes now speak louder than details, postures tell more than faces, and the material, often left bare or patinated, reveals the inner tension of his characters.
"Transition": An Initiatory Journey into the Art of David David
With "Transition," French sculptor and painter David David, residing in Cannes, offers a deep immersion into his artistic universe. The five masterpieces, masterfully orchestrated, punctuate the spaces of La Chèvre d'Or, providing a unique visual and sensory experience between the sea and the azure sky. Each sculpture is an invitation to reflect, a milestone in the emotional journey that the artist has envisioned for visitors.
Thierry Naidu, General Manager of La Chèvre d'Or declares: "We have been particularly touched by the narrative power and emotion that David David infuses into each of his works. The 'Transition' exhibition perfectly aligns with our desire to offer our guests an exceptional artistic and cultural experience, in perfect harmony with the timeless beauty of La Chèvre d'Or and its surroundings."
David David himself expresses his pride: "Exhibiting my works at La Chèvre d'Or is a great honor and a source of immense pride. This mythical place, perched between sky and sea, offers a unique dialogue with my sculptures. The installation of these bronze pieces in such a steep environment presented a real logistical and technical challenge, but the result, this symbiosis between art and nature, exceeds all my expectations."
David David: A Self-Taught Artist Building Bridges Between Art and Society
Born in Nancy and residing in Cannes, David David is rapidly ascending toward artistic maturity. He is establishing himself as a recognized figure in contemporary art. His journey is all the more remarkable because it is the result of perseverance and a unique self-taught approach. Globally recognized for his iconic character "Blind," an alter ego in action with a bucket on his head, this character, which has become his signature, symbolizes voluntary ignorance and the excesses of modern life.
An Artistic Evolution Towards "Plainness"
David David has never stopped exploring, questioning, and evolving his art. After winning over international audiences from the United States to Asia and the United Arab Emirates, he embarks on a new phase of his work, marked by a more refined and raw aesthetic, which he calls "Plainness." In this new approach, volumes speak louder than details, postures tell more than faces, and the material, often left bare or patinated, reveals the inner tension of his characters. With "Plainness," David David continues his fight for freedom, inner resistance, and identity, but with a new strength: that of silence, emptiness, and simplicity. It is an evolution, but also a fidelity to himself, to his message, and to those who have followed him from the beginning.
The "Transition" exhibition at La Chèvre d'Or is a unique opportunity to discover David David's artistic evolution and to be transported by the emotional power of his works, set against an incomparable backdrop of beauty.
